I think we are going through the usual process of trying to scapegoat this thing. That really isn’t a big trade by Waddell and Reed in a very liquid market. The bigger root cause would be the NYSE shutting down ops for 90 seconds. The markets should remain open at all times. They wouldn’t shut down if the market was going up like mad so why do it when it is dropping.

I think the bottom line the market tanked is a lot of people were selling. Then people decided it was undervalued and bought. No one wants to admit that humans have knee jerk, emotional reactions, and that is what we witnessed. Get ready for more of it over the coming years as volatility returns and the HFT computers are working in overdrive.

If I was going to guess at a real cause beyond buys/sells I would blame Goldman Sachs. They probably manufactured this event if anyone did.

Who would of thought? Oddly I was at a conference listening to the former CIO of W&R talk as this madness went down…never in a million years would I have guessed that the cause of the drop would be in my own back yard.

Btw, God knows I wish I could join you guys in the keys, especially since the AAOI Spoke fund rollout is only a few weeks away. Anyhow, let me know how it goes.

I certainly enjoy sticking it to mutual funds, but even I find it hard to buy that W&R was entirely to blame. The GS thing certainly crossed my mind, but I am not sure I want to go down that rabbit hole. At least, not yet. Think I’ll wait to see if this oil spill makes its way to the Keys first. Having the black helicopters hovering around prior to then might be a bit too much for the neighbors.

Thx for reaching out. Short answer is “as soon as I can.” Had hoped to by now, but head down so far this looking at other companies during this market silliness. But, back to spoke funds soon. Thx for the patience.
